How do I know if my vz58 has the firing pin problem?

How do you tell if it's a 2013, short of having bought it in 2013? Is the year marked on them, or can you tell by the serial numbers?

The year of the gun is marked next to the Czech proof marking which is the Czechs code of arms twin tail lion. It will appear to be like a boxed in X. This same proof marking appears on CZ and Brno guns although with CZ, the Lion and year will appear on the 3 major components of the gun. The barrel, receiver, and the bolt.

You can tell if your firing pin is about to break by looking at the firing pin itself and noting if the tip of the firing pin is dented or not. Just before mine broke, the tip concaved on it. It worked for about another 100rds with a few clicks until the gun itself blew up shattering the bolt, carrier, and bending the rear take down pin. The reason why the pin breaks in the first place is an over gas issue with some CSA Vz 58 rifles. The best thing for you to do is to send CSA an e-mail with your guns serial number and ask them if your gun is part of the effected serial number range.

Wow, going to send that email, having an explosion like that would not be fun.
