I've never had to order scope rings before. I want to mount a Burris E1 3-9x40mm
on a Savage Mark 2 FV-SR (has a Picatinny rail). I gather that rings with Weaver bases will fit on the rail. How do I know which rings will fit the scope tube, and which height of rings to order (low/med/high)? Apart from sizing, is the brand/quality of the rings important? Any recommendations for good rings and where to order from?

Your scope tube will be either 1" or 30mm, which ever size you have you will need to order rings in the same diameter.

I just ordered a couple sets of Medium Burris Signature Zee rings (these will fit your Weaver/Picatinny Rail). These rings have a little plastic insert that will guarantee proper alignment and maximum scope-to-ring contact providing tremendous gripping power and were highly recommend on this forum. Also, with the plastic insert you will not mark up your scope as other rings can do.

I bought mine for $45 CAN each

i do not recommend warne rings don,t like how they attach to base

bring calipers with you when you go shopping also note that the rings when attaching to a weaver style base will not sit flat on top of rail so if possible bring base with you when shopping also (you,ll need to take the base off anyways to locktite it use locktite 222 purple made for finer screws

Thanks, I think I have it mostly figured out now. I'd like to get away with the lowest rings possible. I may end up just taking it in to the shop to try a few. Thanks again for the advice!
