Hello guys. There appears to be a couple of brands of solvent on the USA market to help remove a parkerized finish. I want to remove an incorrect finish on a WW1 1911. Does anyone know if these solvents are available in Canada and where?

If you can not get your hands on the solvents you could try to find a shop that can blast the piece with a medium aluminum oxide ( 320 ). That should give you the desired finish.

Give Brownell's a call. They will know if the stuff can be exported and have it for sale. Glass bead blasting an option?
Stole this from a U.S. forum with the same question. Might be of some use.
"Using warmed Phosphoric Acid by itself will "bite" into the previously Parkerized finish and will loosen-up and "wash away" the previously deposited Zinc & Manganese particles, leaving a "pickled" looking finish that will accept bluing."
Another from the same place.
"by using a straight Phosphoric Acid bath at about 10% concentration, warmed to about 180°F ~ 190°F. And yes, you are correct in that one should not leave the piece in the bath any longer than necessary."
