So far I have just full length sized using Lee dies. I now have 100 fire formed 223 brass which I would like to neck size only using Redding's deluxe die set.
I am not sure how to set this die up and how I will know that the neck is correctly resized.

:D I don't have any. The dies were bought used though they look like new. I wondered if I would get that one.
:D

cheers.

Follow the instructions that came with it

exactly!
but maybe he bought em without a manual and quite frankly I don't see any manuals on the redding website. And I'm not sure I'd risk using instructions from say RCBS which has all their manuals online BTW

EDIT: posted the same minute, the dies did actually come withotu the manual, contact the seller, or mysticplayer I have just bought redding dies (havent received yet) from him I'm sure he'll know how

Is the die in the set a neck size die or a FL die? I don't own any Redding dies save a taper crimp die.

If they're FL dies it's relatively easy. Back the die out until there is light visible between the base of the die and the shellholder when the ram is at the top (maybe .020"). Then smoke a case neck with a candle and run it into the die as normal. Remove the case and look at the neck to see how far down the black soot is removed. Then adjust the die down and repeat until the black soot is removed down the entire length of the neck but the die is not touching the shoulder.

Its the neck sizer die specifically. I will use that tip for setting up my FL dies in my other calibers. Thanks.
