I forget the guys name (Alex I think) but if you call AM Auto in Chesley Ontario at 519-363-2605 the owner does stuff like that.

Actually I dont want the head or the legs to remain... Basically just a rug. So it'd be $1000 to have someone do it if I supply the skin? That sounds steep, but like I said Im not at all familiar with the process.

The prices I've seen are $150-$220 per linear foot for a rug, but that includes head and feet...

I have not lived in the area for several years, but off hwy 7 east of Guelph there is a tannery. White Tanner's, maybe the name. On saturdays, they or someone associated with them run's "Rebel tanners" on the same site. They do rugs from whatever game skins you bring them. I only ever had fur-off leather made from deer skins. But from what I vaguely remember of their price list I think you're looking at $100 or not a whole lot more for what you have in mind.

Yes, just tanning is likely the way you want to go and it is not expensive. The big money is in doing the head and feet up, then sewing an expensive felt lining on it.
If you haven't already done so, rub a lot of coarse salt on the flesh side and roll it up. Do not put it in anything that is even remotely air tight.
