How do they ship the svt-40? In a box?

Who are "they"?
Yes, longarms are usually shipped in a box, or in the case of Marstar, in a hardcase.

You were expecting perhaps a cardboard tag with the address and postage?
 
I bought an SKS a d they handed it to me in a clear plastic bag. Just wonder how they would ship a svt-40. I guess the svt-40 is a little classier than a SKS.
 
It would likely come in a cardboard box with newspaper or bubble wrap to keep it safe and with the accessories warped in either to prevent damage to the wood. They wrapped the sks in a plastic bag because its almost free and they don't want Jon doe walking down the street with his new sks because he parked a block and a half away, its just the polite thing to do that way there's no one calling the caps because there's a guy with a machine gun walking down the street.
 
Got mine from Frontier in a Box with the breakable or mar-able bits covered in thick cardboard. It was protected very well. I think different retailers will do it different but it is in their best interest that you are satisfied with your purchase. I recommend Frontier.ca they did good by me. Very satisfied customer here.

Nobody, and I mean nobody, packs milsurps better than weimajack! His are wrapped in many layers of paper, in a box, in an outer layer of protective cardboard.
The worst packing job I have ever seen was from Ki11ercane... my SKS came LOOSE in a box, where it rattled around with the standard SKS accessories. The metal latches on the sling were not kind to the wood and metal finish!! But I won't go on, as I don't want to sound too negative. It was probably an isolated incident, but boy was I pi$$ed off!!

Got my svt-40 in a carefully wrapped box and SFRC did a great job and it looks brand new and it has a 6 port muzzle like I wanted. But wife closed the box and stuck it under the tree :(.
 
Wholy Crap saw that More Guns Supply pack job. I would be PISSED. I realize SKS's are not the most expensive guns around however WTF!! I will never deal with that guy EVER!! Now that I have seen this.
