How do you carry your rifle mags

Last CQB season, I wore a chest rig with 4 AR mags sitting in pouches side by side at stomach height.

I use steel mags and a single point sling. so after a few matches, my lower receiver has quite a few rub marks from banging on the mags during running drills.

I want to change something so the situation doesn’t get worst this year.

Would changing to plastic mags eliminate the issue ? or will plastic mags still mark up the receiver like the metal ones do ?

Also, how do you guys wear you mags to avoid them banging on a slinged rifle ? On the side on a rig ? On a belt ?

Plastic mags will lessen the scratches and dings for sure. They still leave craze lines but they do rub off. I’ve noticed the same thing and mainly use plastic mags now. I also offset my mags on my chest rig as I use them only for left hand reloads (I’m a righty) so they don’t hit the rifle as much when slung. My main mags are on the left side of my battle belt. The rifle will hit them when doing transitions. If you’re gonna play this game, you just have to accept the dings and scratches that go with it. I’m OCD so I use plastic mags but I still accept the inevitable.

I've worn rifle mags on a belt, behind my back, mounted at an angle.

It's great for keeping them out of the way. And also great for going prone.

But obviously mag changes are a bit slower; since your mags are about as far from your rifle as they could possibly be.

I’ve already come to terms with the fact that my comp gear is getting beat up. That’s what it is for. I was just thinking that if after 2 matches it was that bad, what will happen after 10. So I wanted to minimize the impact.

My competition gear is no collector item. It’s too notch gear but it’s to be used. Not only fondled.

I’ll keep the OCD for the pythons and grade 6 Citoris and beat the hell out of my Colts and CZs
