The other day at the pit I did the unthinkable and dropped one of my tapco mags in the sand. I got most of the sand out of it, but it still has the crunchy grinding noise that drives me nuts. How to you take these things apart. The floor plate is covered by a plastic piece. I was thinking of drilling a hole roughly where the dimple is on the floor plate so i depress it and slide off the bottom in one piece. Can I do that and will it work? Someone has to have explored this issue, Murphy's law is not forgiving. These mags are pricey and I don't want to mess it up. Thanks.

... you use the search feature. This has been covered. You'll find what you're looking for.

To sum it up, take a Phillips screw driver, and bore through the bottom plate (takes about a minute) between the "O and U" in "TAPCO USA". Then take a smaller diameter screw driver, push it into the hole, and the slide the bottom plate forward and off.

Tried the search feature. Found more information on where to buy them then how to take them apart. And alot of info on stocks, tapco to be more specific. lol maybe i was using the wrong keyword lol

Drilled them. Between O and U. 1/8 bit.

Note to anyone who tries this the plastic on the floor plate is thin and if you hit the right spot it almost looks like you have to keep drilling. You DONT it's the plastic end that sticks through the floor plate that's attached to the piece that restricts your mag capacity. If damaged JB Weld is your friend. Mix apply let it dry and then sand it back to shape.

Also any tampering with the mag cap restricting device to allow more then 5 rnds will make the mag prohibited in Canada. So please any one who does this STOP you'll f@ck it up for the rest of us who enjoy tapco 5/20 mags and the sks rifle. thank you
