how do you clean your new reloading dies?

how do you clean your new dies? i heard that new dies come with a coat of factory petroleum based protector, which has to be cleaned off...

Brake Clean,I use it on triggers,bolts also

Never had new dies with any protective coating. However, dies do need to be cleaned occasionally. Use the same solvents and tools you do for a firearm. No brushes though.

Brake Cleens & compressed air. Works good on gun guts as well, Just remember to relube the gun guts.

Soak them in acetone for a while then brush them out well, rinse with acetone and dry off. Do this in a well ventilated area or better still outside. Then you are good to go. These were Dillon's instructions to me and they really worked.

I've always just used WD40 and bronze brushes, am I doing it wrong?

a spray of brake cleaner then pull a paper towel through. repeat when dirty, or you are bored.

Brake cleaner and blow them out with compressed air.

Also, if loading lead, then a Hoppes Tornado Brush to clean out the lube and lead shavings build up.
