Just wanted to have feedback from other people that own a weatherby shotgun since I think I'm the only one in the region who's in love with the gun.
I'd like to hear why you bought it and if you have a hunting story to share go ahead!
I pressed the trigger on one 2 years ago and I can't get enough I'm always getting surprised by how reliable this gun is.
I'm a guy who likes analyzing products in depth before buying things and I like good value. This is by no mean saying I'm cheap, I can buy something of 2000$-3000$ when there's other competitive offerings on the market but if the 2k$ offer much more why not? For the weatherby it offers imo much more for less.
I personally don't believe 3.5'' has an advantage over the 3'' especially after I went hunting with my friends who only shot 3,5'' and I with 3'' we all perfrormed equally, you simply need to know how to aim. My thoughts were confirmed by Federal when they made tests. Should you want more info about the tests link is bellow:

So I've hunted ducks geese small game and went for the third year in a row white partridge hunting up north of quebec maybe 10 hours driving from Quebec City.
Temperature of -30°C +wind is what you can expect and I believe that it's hard on a semi auto, guess what I've had no issue using light load last year I just came back this weekend the temperature was a bit more forgiving with temps as low as -3°C still the gun worked like a thank!
We've had 12 birds the first year we basically learned how not to hunt, second year 48 birds with 4 hunters this year we were 3 and had 41.
It even cycles the crapy/cheap challenger ammo, I used my full goose choke (carlson) with challenger light load and birds were failling off the sky.
I made a triple and 2 birds with one shot I honestly love this gun it handles easy, light weight cycles every times. I had the chance to try 2000$ guns and respectfully I have found nothing to love, two of my friends on separate occasions with two same model but different guns had excuses of why the gun doesn't cycle, it's cold or it needs cleaning...ok maybe, still a 2000$ gun that doesn't cycle all the time.
The only issue I had was the stock that became loose after a year I locked tight that gurl and it's been a year with no issue, it happened with the one of my friend as well.
The SA-08 is not perfect out of the box I've added a few things to make it better.
1st maybe just a preference, I'm not a big fan of the bead sight, I added one that clips right on top of it.
2nd Carlson Choke tube Full that takes steel shot for the goose.
3rd Extended bolt handle, the original one works but my fingers are quite large and the handle doesn't fill all of my index so when I was in stress situation sub 0 temperature pulling that bolt with your frozen fingers as the birds fly by I would often hurt my index. I called weatherby, reffered me to the canadian distributor and ordered an extended bolt they have on their SA-459 now it's really perfect.
