I started driving a roll pin and found out that I was in the wrong hole..

Should have been a thru hole and when it bottomed out I found I was in the wrong one...

How do I remove the thing now that it's in...

Depending on the size of the open middle of the roll pin, you can use an appropriate sized screw extractor, the square tapered ones would work the best. You may also have to drill it out partially till the extractor catches it and may need a carbide bit, of the size recommended for that size extractor. The idea is to turn the inside of the pin in the direction which will pull the material and reduce the outside dia. of the roll pin/split pin.

When she says no, it means no. :D :)

Which pin, which gun? Pin for what?

AR Put the rear trigger guard pin in the front hole.... (trigger guard was backwards too...

Can't get vice grips on it. less then a 16th exposed

I'm figuring I'm gonna have to drill it...

it's a 1/16 pin...

I understand what you did ... bummer.

Note to self... don't use the kitchen table to change trigger gaurds.. the light really sucks... I gotta get the shop finished... I'm too tired and I have no place to work with decent lighting.......

If you swing the guard forward toward the magwell, you can reach to cut the guard across where the pin goes through. You'll ruin the guard and the pin, but I think it will be less damage than attempting to drill it out. Than can turn into a mess.

... and you know what, I have a spare guard and pin I can sell to you.

I only need the drill the pin far enough the get the guard back out and I can drive the pin outta the guard....

I'll see if the drill press will co-operate... if not I'll dremel the guard and split the pin to remove it that way... neither is ideal...

Try tapping a wee punch(just big enough to fit without expanding the pin) in the hole of the pin and pulling it out.

Roll pin punches

.
Just a little tip for future reference.

Roll pin punches are not like ordinary punches. Roll pin punches have a little dimple or projection on the face, while an ordinary punch is flat faced.

Do you have any endmills you can use. You're right, you just have to clear about a 1/16" and it'll come out.
