I've got a sporter no1 mk3 and im getting it ready to have the barrel shortened. Im trying to remove the rear sight base..but i cant get it off. Im not referring to the actual graduated ramp...but the base it sits in. I knocked the pin out of the side, but no still doesn't budge.

Anyone know how to take it off?

Also is it possible to remove the front sight without having it cut off?

Thanks guys :D

knock out the pin, remove the screw that holds the spring, and drift it off.

front sight remove the pin and drift it off.

I like to use a press its easier.

no screw, just an empty threaded hole where a screw must have sat before..cant seem to get the springy thing to come off either :(

I drove the pin out and she wont budge

Front sight came off no prob tho :)

Thanks

just stuck on with crud :)

Like I said a small press would work to get it to move, then it comes off easy. Or a whole lot of wacking with a hammer and punch.

If you didn't live several provinces away I would take it off for you.

I took it to my local shop today and they said id have to cut if off because its press fitted on. which explains why it wouldn't budge.
