how do you separate ss pins from 223 brass?

Use a normal everyday media separator. Turn a few times and it all falls out nicely!

Pick up the Franklin Arnsenal one from Bass Pro or Cabelas.

Media seperator or any manner of strainer type thingy...

I have been using a large plastic bowl with holes drilled in the bottom...
It sits atop a 20L pail...
Small hole drilled in the side of the bucket... A few inches below it's top edge.

Place the whole contraption in the sink... Run water over the brass, stir it around.
Pins fall through the holes in the bowl and into the pail.. Water drains out of pail through the hole it it's side...

You'll always find a few pins left inside a few cases, but really.. Each case needs to be inspected before loading... I magnet helps me find and keep these errant bastards
 
I drilled a pile of holes in a 2Kg peanut butter jar. Pour the pins and brass in, screw the top on, and place the entire thing in a bucket of water. Roll the jar by hand under water. Separates the pins completely in about a minute.
 
I used a wire basket hanging inside a pail. Filled with water, it required me to stir brass by hand. Once I got tired of that BS I got myself a media separator from LeBaron.

Same here but then again I only just got mine and only done two batches. I'll go through each one just to see if any stuck.

I need a smaller pail for the media separator, the Franklin bucket is huge and would take forever to fill lol.
 
Oh will have a look for one of those.

Deprimed? Most definately, I only clean non-Deprimed cases if they came from the muddy ground. Then I run them through the case prep head and tumble again with the primers knocked out.
 
They were dirty and muddy as hell so thats why i cleaned them primed... Should have cleaned without the pins for the first cleaning
