How do you whiten the numbers on a garand sight?

Steal the white crayons from your kids' crayon bucket/box/pencil case because hardly anyone ever uses them. If you cannot find one, let me know by PM and I dug through a box at my kid's old elementary school. The teacher confirmed that nobody uses white crayons.

I found my post in the sticky(ies). I'm no longer a MOD around here so I was not sure what happens when transitioning to a regular member. Here it is... at the bottom of page 2...

Have fun! :)

I like using Acetone and rags or cotton swabs, when it comes to using "White Out".

1) clean off surfaces with Acetone
2) dab the White Out into the lower areas that are stamped or engraved
3) Let things dry for a few minutes
4) Wipe off the high areas/excess with a rag or cotton ball with small amounts of Acetone (don't soak)
5) keep wiping off with minute amounts of Acetone... to much will smear all the lower areas

Like Mrs. Frizzell in the Magic SchoolBus Show, "Discover and make mistakes..." The M14 is a diamond in the rough! :D

Also works with white nail polish, same technique as for white out above. I find the glossier nail polish easier to clean, and longer lasting, than matte white out.

I use the white paint pens with acetone for clean up because its more parmanent than china marker. Just fill the letter in and let it set for a bit and clean it off with a Q tip.

You could even use the wifes white nail polish.
