Seems very clear in store, looked thru 3x12 and 4x16. Very good relief (important). Very positive clicks. Decent FOV. But for me, looking in a store is nothing like out in the field and so am wondering how does it compare to, say, a 4200 Elite or a VXIII for a general hunting scope? Your field experience is requested, thanks in advance.

I have a Nikon Monarch UCC 6.5-20 x 44 that I purchsed used here on the EE. The paralax AO has numbers to 1000. It has 1/8th click adjustments and tracks as true as the Leupolds I own.

The glass was superior to the 3200 series of scopes I had. I don't have experience with the 4200 series so I can't comment. Very bright when compared to my VX 3. I do find the Leupolds a bit crisper with a better target definition. For instance a ruled sheet of 8.5 x 11 piece of paper is just a white piece of paper at 200 yards. With the Leupold I can see the lines. But for half the cost of the leupold.......Its an outstanding, clear scope.

Have had a few Monarchs and really like them. Have had Leupolds, Burris, Bushnells, new and old. I would agree with Barks, better than the 3200's comperable to the VXIII's, better price. Warranty work is available and I have only had one go in and was very satisfied with the results. Leupold, of course, has outstanding warranty.

I had the Nikon Monarch Gold with the 30 mm tube and must say it was one of the better ones when it came to low light hunting. I’m not sure how it compares to the regular Monarch but wouldn’t mind getting another one...

the only bad thing about nikon is that they dont want to sell their tactical line to us pore joe: just police and military in canada
