How does OBO really work ?

So if you are selling something and put OBO in your ad, does that mean you wait around until you get the best offer (highest offer) from everyone who emails you?

Or, do you only deal with every only in the order they contact you.

Then there is one guy out there who is getting everyone's best offer, then emailing everyone who's contacted him with the highest price going to see if anyone wants to beat it. Sounds like an auction-style to me not OBO?

Any reference to the "true" explanation of OBO anywhere on this site?

If they ask 500 bucks and someone says 450 he may take it cause it could be the best offer. I just look at OBO as to someone who is willing to haggle a bit.

If it's a good deal and something you want offer the price. If you want to haggle be prepared to lose.

When I put obo in an add it means feel free to make any offer of cash, trade, cash and trade, time in the sack with a hot chick you know... what ever. If I don't like the offer I'll say sorry but no. That's easy enough
