Yes I tried searching, adjusted the preferences etc but no dice, perhaps it's the iPhone at the root.

So anyways I had the xcr in .223. Loved it. It was a great gun but I regretfully had to pass it on, and the new owner seems unlikely to sell it back.

So I'm looking at getting another but in 7.62. How does it compare. My .223 version was pleasantly accurate and absolutely flawless
for the 5000 rounds of bulk federal/american eagle/pmc I put through it.
Obviously the majority will be what ever surplus ammo I find on sale so I'm not expecting it to shoot as well as my .223 but I'd love some input before I decide what chambering ill go with. Thanks

Mine is pretty accurate with all surplus ammo I tried, never had a jam on me except when I let the barrel retainer come loose...
I strip it and dunk it in hot soapy water and clean it as I'd do for a ML.
I owned 4 Sigs, Tavor and ARs and the XCR is the one I enjoyed the most!
Great gun IMO

Works like a charm and accurate enough for a service rifle.
I agree about that barrel retainer screw though. I shoot 200 rounds or so and when I run hot water through the barrel to clean up, I always notice the screw is lose. I never think to check it when I'm shooting and believe it's the hot water and not it creeping out during the shooting.

Mine was great. I ran Norinco non corrosive surplus through it and it funcitoned flawlessly. Mine was the newer version.

One thing to consider, your going to find its near impossible to find anything but short 5 round mags or short 10 round pistol mags for it. Check out GSdesigns for a plastic mag extension for the 10 round pistol mags that makes them the same shape and length as a proper 30 round mag. They are cheap and durable and really make running the gun on a day to day basis much easier.

What kind of accuracy do you guys get with the surplus. With a scope on my .223 it was a true 1.5 moa or better rifle. What to expect with the 7.62. Most shooting will be in 200-300yards. Hitting clay pigeons at 300y with a 75%
Success rate is ok, 25% not ok.

How does the surplus 7.62 compare accuracy wise to bulk .223?

I think you're asking a lot from surplus ammo. I don't doubt the rifle is up to it. The ammo, not so much.
My first 10 round groups averaged ~2moa @ 100, and grew with distance.
