So I just installed a Yo-dave trigger shim and spring kit for a CZ455 that I have mounted in a chassis. The trigger turned out great, eliminated the creep and gave a nice consistent pull. BUT, it failed the bump test in every configuration. Now to be fair, if this rifle were in a wood stock vs. a chassis, I would not have tested it with such gusto but it failed at about 12'' on a hard floor. Because of the weight of the rig, it hit hard. I am building this rifle for ORPS so it will be moved through different shooting positions and there is always a chance of a drop, so I will go back to the original trigger setup and weigh my options.

So how drop safe is your rifle?

I installed a yodave in my tikka yesterday morning, and I checked mine then (and again this morning with a little more gusto after reading this) mine is ok. Maybe your chasis is a little less forgiving than the tikka synthetic.

Two things:
I make sure that no matter how hard I run the bolt it won't drop, that is #1.
#2 is that in PRS you never close the bolt until you are on target and all movement is made with the bolt back. It's possible to fall while engaging but unlikely. Still more unlikely to have the rifle land hard on it's butt.

That said I'd take a look at the sear, trigger and striker surfaces, sounds like they might be rounded.

The confluence of mistakes to actually have an ND because Of this would be astronomical. I know that good muzzle control and basic handling would eliminate all but the unlikeliest chance of a problem, but it gets a fail from me none the less. At this time I have not yet reverted back to a ‘no shim, stock spring’ configuration, but if it fails that it will be getting a drop in replacement from timney.

Not a drop test but once I was shooting a bolt rifle match and my Rem 700 would drop the firing pin when closing the bolt with the gun being held sideways to shoot under a barricade. It is worth trying some tests on any modified trigger and/or related components.
