I just got in from picking up my game camera. On the way in I checked a pond I hunt a lot. It is dry this year. Even the dugout was way low. As i was looking over the dry bed I spotted some colour that was out of place. It was a nice 3 point (each side + browtine),I watched it a while and walked farther down the grass line with my dog in tow. Bailey is a 6 lb s**tsue(SP). I called for him to come closer and something russled in the weeds. A coyote ran out and out to a reed patch in the middle of the pond. A prone shot with the 243 stoped it. The funny thin is the reed bed is where I shoot ducks from in a normal year. The water there is ovewr my belt. We had better get some snow this year or we ar in deep shi@. AJ

Even with all the rain we got this summer, it is surprisingly dry here.

For the last month I have been scouting the swamps for deer, and they have absorbed alot of the water.

Even our ATV trails through the swamp, which are generally only passable every 1 out of 5 years, are good. :)

It's so dry here this year we have nearly no duck ponds so no ducks. I have gotten many good shoots this year but they have been all geese. A few ducks are stopping on the bigger water now but still poor shooting.

Despite the 3 weeks of straight rain near the end, the summer was very dry here.
For the 3rd year in a row our ducky pond is almost dry enough to walk through with rubber boots. (usually 3 foot of water.)
We still ate a few but not enough to give any away as we usually do.
