How easy is it to convert the Tavor to left hand use?

With our Tavor hopefully in the not too distant future ( cross your fingers! ) I would like to know, as I am sure many others down here, just what does it take to convert a Tavor to left hand use? How difficult is it to get left hand bolts ( are they available for Tavor Canadian buyers ) ?

Just curious

Are you talking parts availability or doing the actual conversion?

For the conversion, a semi-retarded monkey missing an eye could do the conversion. Simple case of turning a few machine screws and swapping parts to the other side.

Remove the bolt carrier and swap out the bolt. Remove two screws on the ejection port cover and shell deflector, swap them to the other side, respectively. Remove the forward upper hand guard cover (can't remember exact name), swap the charging handle and accessory rail positions. That's it. Can be done in a few minutes.
 
It isn't too bad to change over, and with a bit of plastic the lefty bolt isn't quite as necessary in order to enjoy shooting it without blood loss.

I've come up with a far simpler and more elegant deflector since then. I'll have to update that thread once I get a new battery for the camera.

Don't forget the barrel has to be removed, and in the flat top version the rail also needs to be removed. I must be a blind totally retarded monkey, because at best I'd have trouble doing it in 15 minutes.
 
north sylva will have the left handed bolts for sale. give them a call. it took me a hour to switch mine over to southpaw mode. i have zero mechanical skill whatsoever by the way. just follow the instructions. have or make the key you need to rotate the barrel release cam and have the bolt on hand and your good to go.

The only caveat I would add is that removing the barrel on the flat top version is apparently a PITA the first time because the rail is loctited in fairly well. Consider me also a blind totally retarded monkey - but at least you're in good company. ;)
 
I'd say 15 minutes is a bit generous. Maybe once you know what you're doing and have gone through the process a few times. But I'd give a first timer an hour or two to feel their way through it.

Left handed bolts aren't rare per se in Canada.
