Mine seem to land about 10-12 feet away with ALL brands of ammo out of a 20 in barrel. Is this a probem? and if so what should I do to remedy this ? ie, extra power recoil spring from Brownels?

The AR15's I fire send brass casings a good 7-12 feet or so. Thats if they dont hit the wooden seperator's between the booths.

It's perfectly normal.

Are you standing or prone?

I usually find that they only go about 3 or 4 feet away in the prone, but standing should give them some extra distance. 12 feet sounds reasonable, but if you're in the prone and the brass is landing 20 feet away that is definately weird.

yeah if your prone there only going to go 3-4 feet away standing there going to go i would say up to 10-12 feet. just be happy they're coming out!

i got around this by putting on a brass catcher- if you don't like having to pull it off and empty it, cut the bottom out so it becomes a chute- as for you flat top boys, i don't know -mine only fits the carrying handle style- it's an e&l

I fired a AR with one and I thought it was garbage.

I mean the guy put it on, And went to load and pull back the charging handle, went to fire. NOTHING. Pulled back the charging handle let it go, Jam, but he did not know he had a jam because the brass catcher in the way. Only way he would know if there was a jam and went to pull the trigger and no bang.

He kept on having to remove it.

Better off getting a laundry bag and making a brass catcher to attach to the bench.

Ive found that most AR's and C7's ejection patterns varry depending on how far on the right my collar is as the brass alwasys ends up in MY shirt and never in the pail the shooter put out. maybe I'm the brass magnet you've been looking for.

The SIG Arms have the distance record, I think.

my M78 will fling the brass about 10 feet into the air and another 20 feet to the right. when shooing it from a covered firing position, it is normal to get the brass to bounce off my back and head as it deflects from the roof

I shot at Bisley with the C7 one year and r. surette was partial to clipping the ejector spring on all the c7's on the team, by one coil. This resulted in a neat little cluster of casings about 2' away from the shooter in prone and had 0 negative effect on reliability. I've done it to my own Colt with similar results. *** at your own risk, please - I won't be replacing any springs for you if you don't like what happens***
