So i tore my mosin down as far as i could to clean off the cosmo. the damn trigger pin even fell out that was fun to find it made its way into my carpet... Id rather tear my SKS down 10 times blindfolded than deal with those damn rings holding the hand guard on
The bolt was interesting as well(first time tearing down a bolt action rifle). Barrel was DIRTY! I know everyone says these have all dark bores by now but i found after cleaning the barrel for what seemed like forever(easily 100+ patches used) i got it clean and has a bright shiny bore with very little pitting and great rifling, i was stunned when i took a look after the patches were coming out clean.
So since i have a box of 400 corrosive rounds sitting here and im going to go fire it for the first time on the weekend im curious how far down i need to take it apart to clean after.
Im assuming since its bolt action with no gas system i can just pull the bolt out and apart clean it and wipe down the inside of the receiver with the bolt removed. Is this correct? Or should i pull the magazine out as well and thoroughly clean it? Obviously ill clean my nice looking barrel as well.
Thanks guys.
