Has anyone got any experience with Sauer hunting rifles? I'm thinking about the model 202 in particular.

How do they compare with Sako for quality and accuracy? Are they worth the premium?

they are weird looking

probably well made though, for that price

Have not seen their newest offerings, but the old "Colt Sauer" sporting rifles were truly beuatiful rifles, typical blued like Python blue, and nice wood, not the best shooters in the world, but life is too short to own an ugly gun

I believe the Sauer 200 had an interchangeable barrel system, but I am not sure if the 202 does. They are very nice rifles, but I always liked the lines of the Sauer 90 better. I know a fellow who had one in .375 H&H, he really liked it. The one thing you won't find on a Sauer, which is available on almost every other rifle out there, is cheap plastic and low quality wood.

I have a sauer 202 outback and it is money well spent. I also have the a Zeiss scope with the special Sauer rail mount system and it is the bset hunting rifle that I have so far. Oh and I have it in 270win and a spare barrel for 9.3x62, However they do not offer a magnum in the outback version.

That sure sounds like a nice combo. What model scope do you have? Did you get the set-up locally? I have only seen the rail mounts in Europe, I don't know why they aren't more popular here.

IMHO, they are as good as you get in a factory gun.

I have yet to meet a Sauer, either 200 or 202 that did not have a silky smooth bolt, great triggers, and great mags.
I am still strongly inclined to make my next and only real rifle a 202 Match.
Personally I rate them a little ahead of Sako, and Steyr.

My friend has a Sauer S 202 Stutzen in 243 Winchester.

It is a beautiful rifle by all accounts; gorgeous wood, awsome standard or set trigger, super smooth action.

It shoots great too! I don't know what he paid, but I'd imagine it wasn't cheap!

FWIW, here's what the Stutzen looks like:

It's a Diavari series scope, 2.5 to 10 by 50 and I purchased it locally in Vancouver at Royal Sportsman.

I've got the 202 match grade, left hand .308 version. Best so far is 3 inch group at 500 yds, but I haven't played with it that much. It's real pretty. I wouldn't mind getting a hunting barrel and hunting forene someday.
