So, I have a friend that is looking at plinking that has way too much money apparently! He likes to got out to the cabin and shoot at clays with the boys.
He wants accuracy and doesn't mind spending for it. He would also prefer semi-auto.
I suggested that he get a 10/22 and said that they were inexpensive. he said that the money wasn't a big deal-just that he wanted something accurate.

So! any ideas???
Fire Away!

Also, what is the max range someone could shoot accurately to with a .22?

thanks!

JF

My Kinker Plinker is avalible for $1500 shipped with 10X 25 rd mags and a tac bag...Oh ya and a Eotech or Bushnel red dot sight ...his choice

I have a pretty sweet customized 10/22 that I'll sell him for what it cost to build.

JF - There are really quite a few options our there for a $2000 rimfire and as silly as it may sound to spend $2000 or more on a rimfire I kind of like the idea.

If he wants accuracy - extreme accuracy the best way to go would be a benchrest gun with the flat forend. If this is the case try to find a custom Remington 40X or Winchester 52D, or another gun like that with a custom stock on it with the flat forend. The Anschutz 54 series would be another excellent choice and they are still made (unlike the 40X and 52D)

For semi auto Ruger would be the way to go. I would get a Lilja barrel, a Bell and Carlson stock, and a kidd trigger along with optics. This would give you an accurate rig (but no matter how much you pump into those litte guns they will never shoot with a bolt action benchrest gun).

Before I go into to much detail ask him if he wants a benchrest gun, or if he wants one with the rounded forend.

I will also sacrifice for the cause, I have a Cooey model 60, #### on closing bolt cycles so fast he'll think it's a semi, stock's been refinished in the finest hand slathered tung oil finish, bluing more than 50%, custom rear sight jack modification (sight jack missing), and the best for last;

I will undercut all the inflated prices above, his for only $1,400 shipped. Insurance, real cardboard for the box, and signature on delivery available at his expense, of course.

I'll sell him my 3 month old henry lever 22 for 2000, if youre good it'll be almost as fast as a semi.

As for distance, .22LR can be accurate at 200m, if it's calm, or you are very good at doping wind.
Maybe more than 200m; but that's as far as I've tried.
