How I Powdercoat Bullets

Nice write up.
My tip.....I have something to add after playing with this for a couple of years. Pre-heat the bullets before the powder-swirl step. This will eliminate the requirement for beads.
Watch the temp (low ~ 225 for 2 or 3 min). If they're too hot then all you have is a messy glob.
I do this using tool blue and get pretty close to 100% coverage on nearly every bullet. After I put a batch in the oven I dump about 150 bullets on another metal tray and put it on top of the oven to pre-heat for a couple of minutes, giving them the touch test until they are just under too hot to handle. Then into the plastic container with powder for a quick swirl (no beads for me either). I then dump them out, give them a little shake to get rid of excess powder and stand them on end on a separate tray lined with parchment paper. As soon as the bell goes I remove the tray from the oven & set them aside to cool, slide the prepared tray in the oven, set the timer & then preheat another batch. Using this technique I am continually baking batches of about 150 bullets with virtually no down time so I can easily do about 500-600/hour. I am planning to use two ovens for baking this spring so I figure I can bump production up to 800-1000 per hour with virtually no rejects.
