How is that Wolf 223 ammo budget shooter supply is selling? Compare it to S&B Norinco

Looking to buy a box of 1,000, not necessarily the cheapest stuff but price is always an issue. On a side not, what is the most accurate factory 223 ammo out there? Thank you and happy holidays!

It functions flawlessly in my 14.5" Armalite and my 10.5" NEA out of regular and LAR mags.

Can't compare it to the other two kinds of ammo, as I don't have any of it, and it's been too cold since I got my case to shoot for accuracy.

Wolf 223 doesn't compare to norinco or sellier. Norinco and the sellier stuff is brass cased, loaded much hotter and is generally very good quality stuff. Wolf is metal cased, underpowered practice ammo at best.

I wouldn't say wolf is underpowered, but indeed is brass vs. steel

Steel is not as flexible as brass, so it doesn't fully form to your chamber like a brass case will, so you get less of a seal. Meaning more gas/crud blow back into your receiver. So if your shooting straight steel all day you will be fine (if your intention is to give her, as opposed to for accuracy). Just don't switch to brass after as you may get stuck cases due to the carbon build up. Start with brass then transition to steel if you plan to put a lot of bullets down range.

In terms of accuracy if you are going for that go for the higher quality brands, sellier etc. Can't really say which is "the most" accurate as all rifles work differently with differing ammo manufactures. Hence the most accurate shooters roll their own to match the ammo to the rifle.

Isn't Wolf also lacquered to assist with extraction? This tends to melt and gum up chambers resulting in stuck cartridges.

It is underpowered for sure. Try chronygraphing the stuff. I have found it to be almost 200 fps slower than the norinco stuff and the s&b stuff I have chronied. The last two I think are marketed as m193 rounds and are definitely hotter.

I have run it out of my Norinco CQB 14.5 for a three gun season with no FTF or FTE, and when your shooting in mass quantity it is good stuff. But,and there is always a but, it jams my buddies Noveske quite often. Being that is poly coat it just doesn't fed as well. I wouldn't buy it for my rifle to do any precision shooting, I found it does not feed out of the magazine in my bolt gun and you end up removing the mag and tapping it to get it to feed.

so it works great in the $700.00 Rifle and jams up the $2000.00 Pretty boy rifle?
