Whats your experience with the hornady 212gr Eldx bullet in a 10 twist 30 cal barrel. Is it stable? I am using JBM stability calc with bullet length minus plastic tip.
Bullet length 1.61”
Tip 0.17”
Muzzle velocity 2800 fps
JBM Stability factor 1.827

What is peoples experience with this bullet and had calculating its stability with the calculator using minus the plastic tip been satisfactory?

I shoot the 212 eldx in my 5R Remington 300 with no stability issues. I am not driving those bullets real hard either. 2785 with H4831sc. 1000yrds is as far as I have shot that load and the accuracy was good.

1st. Im just looking for some general feedback on the ELDX 212gr in a 10 twist.
2nd looking for some feedback on the stability calculator with the minus plastic tip.
When entering a plastic tip bullet in the berger stability calculator does anyone take the length of the tip off the bullet length before entering it in the calculator.
This ELDX212 bullet when entered as its whole length in either berger or jbm calculator starts approaching marginal stability (a calculated output below 1.5 ) but with its length minus the plastic tip is well in the stable area past 1.5 factor.
Interested in opinions and experience.
Thx Eric
