I've been shooting my Rem for 2 seasons with the trigger adjusted to 2#, would like to go lower, do you think I can adjust the factory X-mark trigger to a little over 1#? Range gun only.

I have my Tikka 595 in .223 set below 2# and now it is the only gun I own that I can hit anything with. My 700 sps in .243 feels too hard and I often miss because I have became too use to an ultra light trigger pull which is fine on a varmint/target rifle. Be careful not to end up with my problem.

I just had my x-mark trigger done.

I ended up getting it at 2.5 lb.. I asked for 2lb but he said that once he went below 2.5lb it started to go bad and creep a lot.

I heard before hand that the x-mark trigger isn't really good at going below 3lb so I was happy to get a crisp pull at 2.5lb, any lower he said and it starts to get crappy. Something about the screws inside, etc.. Could be a case by case basis though.

For amount of time and money spent at a good gunsmith your better off buying a Rifle Basics trigger or a Jewel. They are both designed for an intended range of pull weight unlike the rem which can be adjusted to an honest 2# safely.

You might be able to adjust it below what you have but you may incur slamfires. Where,if the bolt is cycled aggressively it may release the firing pin and discharge a chambered round. Hazardous!
If you have a crisp release now at 2# you will gain nothing by dropping a few ozs off the pull. If you want a better trigger you would be better off going with a better trigger (ie Jewell,Jackson 2-stage, Timney, Shilen). All of these are available from dealers who monitor on this website.
Cheers

I am happy with 2 rifles set at 6 oz and 1 at 8 oz.
But it sure makes for an interesting day when I go back to a hunting rig at 5lbs.
