How many animals can YOU legally take in a season?

If I read the AB Regs right (and I think I do) I can buy and potentially fill the following in a single season:

Whitetail Deer (1 tag)
Mule Deer (1 tag)
Supplemental Antlerless Whitetail (this is AB's doe tag, and you get 2 tags good for certain areas)
Foothills Deer (1 tag, area around Calgary)
Strathcona Whitetail Deer (1 tag, Strathcona County West of Edmonton)
Elk (1 Tag)
Moose (1 tag)
Black Bear (2 tags, 1 + 1 supplemental, good for spring or fall seasons, but expire so you need new ones for next spring)

Last year there was also a special archery/shotgun only season near Calgary around Christmas. Not sure if this was a one time thing or not.

Keeping in mind that these are not all good in every unit, so there'd be some miles to drive and skill/luck playing the usual role. If I'm correct, I could bring home 6 deer, an Elk, a Moose and 2 Black Bear in a season. (If I've read that wrong, please correct me)

What about where you guys live? I remember when I was in BC that it was for certain regions only, and you could kill like 15 deer or something on the Queen Charlottes, but there was a possesion limit similar to fishing...

I normally only buy 3 whitetail 1 mulie and either moose or and elk tag and get my blackbear tags just because if I see one in the zone its dead :)

so without being drawn I can shoot 5 ungulates and 2 bear :)

(I can hear the guys from ontario crying allready :p )

Last year, some zones were giving out 3 antlerless mulie tags for each person who won the draw. (6+2+8) Get drawn for Wainright, 2 more deer of either type (8+2+10) Plus an antelope, a bighorn, and if you were freakishly lucky, a mountain goat.

So I make the total possible in Alberta, given incredibly good luck, 17 big game animals available in one year. Plus no limit on wolves.

in bc i think it works out to:

15 blacktail deer on the queen charlottes
3 muley and whitetail combined on the mainland
1 moose
1 elk
1 caribou
1 sheep
1 goat
1 bison (if very lucky in the draw)
2 cougar
2 black bears
1 grizzly
3 wolves
1 turkey

and if you are VERY lucky in the lotto, 1 more sheep and a roosevelt elk with the special tag.

so without having horseshoes up your a$$ (in the case of the bison and the special sheep and roosevelt elk tags), i think it works out to 23 ungulates, 3 bears, 2 cougars, 3 wolves, and a turkey.

i have heard that in some of the US states the limit is a buck a day.

:p Lets see...

3 Deer
2 Black bear
1 grizz (LEH)
3 Bobcat
1 Caribou
1 Elk
1 Moose
1 Wolverine
3 WOlves
5 lynx
1 Mountain Sheep
1 Goat
2 COugar

Unlimited coyotes...Other stfuff too

One year i woudl like to try to get them all:p :p

Silverado-You can also draw an antlerless mule tag every year in some zones and draw a camp wainright deer license which includes two additional tags. You also left out bighorn sheep.

You know sometimes you just get tired of shooting game :) soo many tags and they you have to gut and skin and butcher work work work :)

Last year we had 2 moose and 11 deer down in the first 4 days of hunting and there were only 4 of us in the camp :)

I'll have to read the regs again, but I thought you could only get either a general, or draw tag for each species in the main categories, plus all the supplementals and special zone hunts like 212 248 etc.

I did leave out Bighorn, I just don't think about it because I've always been under the impression that unless you're hunting a draw zone, your chances are minimal at best. I may be wrong about that...

As for the other species mentioned by Gatehouse et al, I was thinking big game only, but technically you can take a boat load of predators etc. as well, and let's not start counting birds

You'd be pretty busy in the Kitchen, making up all those cool game dishes.

Half that list is more than my family could eat in a year. Gotta like variety!!

I hate you guys:(

Sounds like we're in the same province...

Quebec

1 whitetail deer
1/2 a moose
2 black bears
2 caribou (if you can afford to drive 10000000000000000 kilometers north)

thank god the grocerie stores exist, we'd starve in this province...

On the up side, we can hunt marmotte 365 days a year! even when they are hibernating!!!

ummm.... 1/2 a moose?

as in one half? lol

what you need to share a tag?

plus, I think it's only about 1500km north, not so far for cariboo ;) down here the good ones are about 2500km north of me. (dease lake area)

We need 2 moose tags to shoot 1 moose... no comment...

It sound about right for cariboo, distance wise... the trouble is, one would have to spend a lot of money in lodging and equipment and things like that... cariboo is more like a "dream hunt" for most quebecers.

We are also allowed 2 more whitetailed deer if we want to FLY and use an outfitter in the Anticosti island. The only place I know where you can stick out your hand with a carrot in it, and have a deer come eat it, then you can pat the deer... and shoot it. You'll never see me there.

Where I am in Ontario, I can get 3 archery tags for white tail (two antlerless only, one either/or), plus 2 for shotgun (one antlerless only. one either/or). I usually only get two for archery though, most landowners won't give permission for gun hunting around here, too many hunters trying for the few that will. I have to travel north a bit to hunt black bear (1 or 2 tags available dedending on the area) or moose (1 calf tag only, adult tags are by draw only, in some areas you need to enter a draw to get a calf tag).

Furync, there are a lot of spots in Ontario where non-residents can hunt deer unguided, might be an option for you.

Don't have regs in front of me but I think that the deer tags are combined. That is if you inculde the QC Blacktails, you can get a TOTAL of 15 deer. Also possesion limits apply in which you can have a total of, I think, 6 deer in possesion until you get home.

Can someone check the regs and let me know?

with party hunting in ontario, there really is no limit to how many you can kill, the trouble is having enough guys who will let you shoot on their tags........so basically you coukld shoot as many as you want...if you have the buddies..

Ontario wins...muhahahaha
