How many people would buy a DMR profile M14 barrel

What would you prefer?

Well, a Krieger DMR runs 500 presently through a Canadian importer. Is your product going to be sufficiently better then a krieger that it is worth competing with them?

A Canadian manufacture would interest me. Who will make your blanks?
 
These would likely not be made from blanks. We're currently looking at a couple manufacturers. Right now we're just looking for interest. Quality would be on par with currently available barrels of the same type.
 
Currently we have not been able to find a Canadian source that can supply the barrels in the quality, quantity and price we need. We're looking at a few overseas companies right now.
 
Curious, do you actually make anything for the M14, or just canvas CGN to determine interest. I'm just curious, because I've seen several posts regarding different parts for the M14, but nothing being produced, or for sale.

Next week the following M14 parts will be hitting the machines for sampling and then production a week or two after:

1. Match spring guide for Norinco OPROD springs.
2. BullDog Brake muzzle brake.


In the next 2-3 weeks Parts that are being sampled are:

1. Assault sight front sight for shorty barrels
2. Bolt release
3. Extended Tactical mag release.

Entering the testing phase over the next month or so:

1. M14 AssaultRail full length handguard rail replacement.
2. AssaultStock Chassis system.

It literally takes thousands of dollars and countless hours of time to get to this point. I've contracted engineers, CAD designers and consulted experts etc all to just develop ideas. Nothing happens overnight, it all takes time and energy and then more time and them more time.

This thread right here is called market research.

+! for anything M14 Canadian made, the lack of available parts is keeping me from undertaking a second M14 build!

The hours scouring vendors finding out what is available, and how long 'special order' parts take to be delivered, and finding alternative parts when your first choice is not available - makes building a rifle a 6-12 month project!!

I find it unlikely that you're going to find someone overseas that will make barrels as good as a Krieger, but I'd be interested in one potentially.

Countries other then the US have been making high precision rifles and barrels for as long as or longer then the US. Quality barrels are more about having the equipment and the US is hardly the only country that has it. In fact we may be able to get better barrels for less then what is coming out of the US.

Plus I think any country that is willing to treat Canadian civilians like adults and sell to us without restrictions should be rewarded with our business.

Not really. Most people only shoot at 2-300 yards. A few will go 3-600yards. A minority are 600 yards plus. The velocity lost from a 24" barrel to a 18.5" barrel is not significant enough to matter until your out past 600 yards anyway. Alot of people are also getting better accuracy from chopped barrels as well, due to less barrel whip. I can see why alot of people would opt for the short barrrel over a long one if they are not into long distance shooting, yet just want a good accurate barrel .

Details like this are for after we decide to pursue the project. Right now I'm just trying to gauge interest.
 
Are thinking of just getting rifled blanks and finishing them in country? About a year from now I need a new barrel for this puppy.

I guess I was thinking more the M14 barrel expertise, but you're right that there's no reason one of the non-us makers couldn't tool up to make M14 barrels. Wouldn't take much, the actual barrel making equipment costs much more.

Your second point is even more well taken.
