how much for a cheap scope?

Yeah, but you can also pay a lot more money for the same Chinese cheap scope with a different sticker on it. If buying used oats, it is best to only pay the used oats price.

On the other hand, I got a Leupold Vx111 3.5-10 x 50mm, for $150 off the rack at a sporting goods store that had a bin full of $15-$30 used scopes that they were clearing out to make room. I bought several of the cheap ones too. Always good to have a spare or two around for when needed!

Well done sir!

remind me not buying from you at $400 ....

Doubt it'd last three minutes on the EE at $400. But do try to remember that it's all about what something is worth, not what the guy before you paid, eh?

If I paid $500 for an "old Chevrolet, won't start" and it turned out to be a Corvette, I am under no obligation to resell it for cheap just because I got a deal.

Simple screw-up, by a simple dude at the store. Had the clerk pull a couple unmarked scopes from the display case. Asked the price, the Clerk hollered back to the (owner?) guy in back about them. Guy in back said $150. So that's what I paid.

Coincidentally. They had actual price tags on all the used scopes in the display case the next time I was in there looking. Leupold said it was the real thing.
Good deal for me. A keeper.

Cheap stuff is expensive, not my bag...

Expensive stuff is expensive too. It comes down to figuring out where your own budget fits the picture. We don't really all need a Swarovski scope on our beater .22's, as much as we'd love to have them.

Buy cheap buy often

Or buy cheap and use the living hell outta something, and have just as much fun or more, than the gear snob does.

I worked with a fella that thought you couldn't enjoy fishing unless the gear you used needed a Bank Loan to buy it and another to cover the Insurance against breakage. He HATED fishing around me as I always seemed to be catching more than he did (his words) with my crappy WalMart rods and reels. But I didn't need to cry or snivel if a door got shut on a $20 rod, something he did to his $800 one. Ouch.

If it works, it works. Otherwise you will always have someone with more money to piss away, trying to tell you to spend at least what they do to keep up. Fools game that, as there is ALWAYS someone with more better! :)

My $12 fitco scope held up on my 458 wm when vortex cross fire and diamond back scopes failed within the first couple shots. Everyone raves about vortex. They do have a great warranty. Seems it gets used a lot. I wanted to try some features this scope offered that on brand names cost $1500+. It's going on a cheap accurate rimfire gun. If it breaks its got a warranty to. Replaced free of charge. Will it be as good as a Nightforce. No. Will it be good enough for the ranges I'm going to use it with cci quiets. I'm sure it will work. It's quite clear and I think it'll be a lot better when on an actual gun as my hands shake way to much trying to hold a scope in front of my face. I'm hoping the rings I ordered show up Monday and hopefully they're tall enough

I also figured out how to install the sunshade. I'm an idiot and didn't notice the end of the adjustable parralax ring had a thread protector. I was focused on the threads on the inner scope bell. I spun the thread protector off an the sunshade screws right in.

I'm all for better quality scopes on hunting guns and target guns don't get me wrong. I wouldn't trust a cheap scope on a rifle I was hunting big game with 12 hours from home. I always bring a extra scope as well.
When load development time comes for my iron sighted guns I usually install a scope as my eyes aren't the greatest and a cross hair is more consistent then holding a bead in a V.
But for a rimfire that is used for shooting pop cans and sometimes squirrels just about anything that holds zero will work.

I got the scope mounted and sighted in and took it out squirrel hunting today. For $105 I'm very impressed. It's very clear and the higher magnification is much better. 400 yards away I could read my license plate with ease on 32 power. It is very critical of eye placement beyond 26 power but I can get a good view with minimal moving. I set the parallax to 20 yards and stalked thru the bush. Set at 8 power a squirrels head looked like it was in high Def. At 20 power it was still very clear in the bush. Under 12 yards its blurry at all power settings but passed 15 yards its very good.
At 20 yards I did the square test and had 3 one hole groups and 1 clover leaf for 3 squares.
The illuminated center cross is great in bright daylight and in dark conditions. It is heavy and very long but it balances the heavy barrelled savage FV very well
I'm thinking about ordering another for my 17 mach 2
I'm not sure which Chinese company made this scope but for the price I am very pleased
First legal minute of legal light I could easily watch a squirrel over 100 yards away in the open hardwoods. However I sighted it in with cci quiets and of had 1 unlucky tree rat come within 30 yards. A couple black birds and a crow fell to a similar fate
