How much of a revolver...

It may be a silly question , but how much of a revolver is to be considered "the restricted part" ?

What if - theoretically - the frame can be split into two pieces (i.e. "lower frame and handle part" and then "top-strap & barrel part") ? ...

I dunno...tried to search, had to ask ?....

I would venture to guess the half with the serial number on it... But I don't know s--t about revolvers...

Like a Colt or Ruger single action? Grip frame and trigger guard can be separated from the rest. The part with the barrel screwed into it is the receiver. Even if the trigger and hammer came away with the grip, the part with the barrel would still be the receiver.
