How much should barrel heat affect accuracy?

My brother claims that he fired 4 of the 20/5-round magazines in 2-3 minutes. So that's 20 in 2-3m, and he says that he was "off paper" by the end at 100 yards. Should accuracy be affected to that degree by that pace of shooting? Or could it be the Norinco rear sight rattling loose?

I did shoot 30 rounds with my M14S (one 20 round and one 10 round-mag) in 3-4 minutes. 1-2 minutes after - with a VERY hot barrel, I fired 5 or 6 handloded rounds at 100 meter. They all was in a 1 inch group. Could´t belive it first...but my rifle did´t care about the hot barrel at all.

Barrel heat will always affect groups. The benchrest crowd always use heavy barrels because of this condition. Those who shoot minute of moose don't care too much about this situation, however, those who are in a competition, shooting paper,or hard core gopher guys, shoot with a heavy barrel or fluted model.
