How Much Should I Pay For A Used Beretta A300?

iHey everyone,

Somewhat new to the site but learning lost really quickly! I have shouldered a few guns but nothing has stood out to me as much as the A300. I am waiting to get my PAL in the mail (sent it away in early May) but I have a feeling I wont get it until November. I was originally not looking to spend more than $1000 on my first shotgun but one of my friend's hunting buddies has one he's willing to sell to me that has had about 200-300 round put through it. It comes with all the factory chokes and he also has 3 other chokes that he bought after market that he is willing to kick in as well. He's asking $900 for it all but I am wondering if this is a good price for a used shotgun like this A300. Should I ask if anything else like shims come with it? I just want to make sure that I am not getting ripped off but also getting all items that came with it when he originally bought it. Thanks for the help in advance, I've tried to see what they're priced on other sites and on the EE but they almost never come up so I've been struggling to find their true value used. Looking forward to any help you can give!

Go to some of the Site sponsors, like Ellwood Epps and Reliable Gun and check their used section for your gun and of choice and see if they have one and what the selling price is.
Dont forget to add the tax and say $50.00 for shipping to see if you are getting a deal.
Check ewe-toob for the Beretta A300 for reviews ...
You will then be armed with a wealth of knowledge opposed to just our opinions.

The wood and camo versions are about $100 more than the black synthetic version when new. Cabelas had the black synthetic on sale for $800 a couple months back. Tax and shipping extra of course. I have one and like it. No issues and it seems to fit me well.

It looks like new they’re going for $1250 on average for wood and camo. Cabelas is out of stock on A300’s and the rumor is they’re done making them and focusing on A350’s and A400’s since they’re the newer models. I ran the numbers and after tax and shipping I’d be saving close to $600. I am curious if there’s anything specific I should look at to ensure it’s been taken care of properly. I’m very new to the sport so I just want to make sure I’m not buying something that’s been abused, although he said only about 200-300 rounds have gone through it. I’ve called most places around me and everywhere but one store is out of A300’s with no idea when they’ll be back in stock, as they’re not even showing up as an option to order them from their suppliers.

Thanks for all the help so far, it’s very much appreciated!

Assuming the gun is in very good condition with no dings or dents the price sounds fair as aftermarket chokes depending on the make can be quite pricy. If you can take someone knowlegeable to look at it they might see an issue you could miss.

A300 450-700$ depending on condition

Ok. I found those prices in American for used but nothing for Canadian prices. I found out that the chokes are called “kicks high flyer” extended chokes. Seem to be about $77 American for each choke. There’s also a turkey choke that’s from the same company. He says there’s very few scratches on it for a hunting shotgun and it’s in max 5 camo. Does any of this bump the price up to the $900 range?

For a new model a300 outlander with 3 extra chokes in camo i think 900 is a fair deal. Wood versions generally sell for 750 to 800 plus tax for just factory issue
They still make the outlander and have released the sporting model and new colors
The few ive shot seemed to function just fine

It’s not new though, it’s got about 200-300 rounds through it which is why I was worried about the $900 price tag. I haven’t found a single new A300 for less than $1150 anywhere online or in a shop. Can someone send me a Canadian site where an A300 is listed below $1150 pre-tax because I’ve been told a few times I can get one for $800 but haven’t even come close to that price since I’ve started looking at this gun 3 months ago.

With the chokes and camo, 900 is not unreasonable. With respect to the round count, 200-300 rounds is barely enough to break it in. I put 250 through mine over the last week shooting clays. Not hunting loads I know, but the a300 should handle thousands of rounds and if you are hunting with it, the round count won’t be that high. Make an offer or watch for a sale.

Someone suggested buying it or at least offering $700.00 for it, see what the counter offer is and decide if you wanna spend that much more.
Your buddy might take the cash and call it a day.
Three months is an awfully long time to be kicking tires looking for a first shot gun.
Just my .05 worth of opinion.

200-300 rounds is nothing. That’s like a couple of slow days at the skeet range or a couple of rounds of sporting clays. I think the price is very reasonable and all the extra chokes just sweeten the deal.

I picked up the A 300 this summer. For the camo model on sale I paid around 1100. I was certainly not able to find one cheaper anywhere. Some have come up used that were slightly cheaper, but I wasn’t willing to wait. I would say 900 is a fair price with the current market conditions. If you have the funds and you like it you should get it.

By new model i meant make sure its a a300 outlander. There was an a300 series in the late 70s early 80s. Their barrels interchange amoung the a300/301/302/303 series. When price shopping beretta 300 you may see prices for both. They are separate models
A few hundred rounds isnt anything to worry about if thats the version you want. Youre basically saving a quarter of the price of a new one

FYI …I bought a used camo A300 outlander off of our local infomall buy/sell sight. Paid $600 and I’m happy with it. Don’t recall the shot count but it’s worked fine the little bit I’ve shot it. I’m an upland hunter, I exclusively shoot 20’s but I did use it for pheasants one season. I believe it’s more slender and as light as a Browning Gold Superlight 12ga that I own…that’s a good thing!

Out of curiosity I checked a few sites online and the camo outlander averaged about $1200 before taxes and shipping bringing the total well north of $1300. $900 with the extra choke tubes seems reasonable to me and lowballing a seller is a good way to have the offer to sell withdrawn. Trying to get a perfect deal and overthinking a purchase is just an exercise in frustration.

Thanks everyone, I agree with hunter but I just wasn’t sure if it was a decent deal because I had heard of people paying $1000 for them new and the saw a couple people say they bought one for $600 used. I also kind of thought that $900 was reasonable based on the fact that it’s a newer A300 outlander, not an older generation. I really hope my PAL comes back by October so I can actually get it before he sells it to another buddy. Thanks again for all the advice everyone!
