Now, I wouldn't spend less then 500 on an optic.

I'm wondering, if I want a 6x20 variable how much am I going to have to spend to ensure that it does not have a POI shift when I adjust the magnification ?

Any recommended optics ? I'm looking for exposed turrets with good contact, will be used for target shooting out to 1000 and then also used for hunting under 300...

Hence the variable power need, I would prefer to hunt at 10-12 power but target shoot at 20.

I have a couple Sightrons IIIs 8-32 and Burris FF E1 6.5-20 and none of them have poi shift when magnification is adjusted. If your interested in the Burris I have it listed on the EE right now as I want to get another 8-32 sightron to replace it.

Is POI shift still a common thing nowadays? I know that it was a concern a few decades ago, but personally it's been many years since I've had or used a scope that displayed any perceptible shift in impact as power was changed. I tend to use more typical scopes of lower power, I think my maximum goes up to 14 or 15x, so perhaps it's more noticeable when you get into those extreme magnifications?

It is never anything ive been able to notice, nor do I ever wish to.

I'm looking for an optic to do dual duty, I cant take a shot at a 125 yard yote If I think it may be a bad shot due to equipment error. IE why I currently used a fixed power. Clear, tuff, durable, less moving parts.

I have a Sightron SIII 6-24x50 FFP that I had on my TRG 42. It has held zero throughout the power range and had no issues with the recoil of the .338 Lapua. Overall for the price it is a good scope. Wish it had a zero stop though.
