Judging by the shape of the stock, I'd say the way he was holding it it just slid back in his hand and pivoted on it's axis.

He said it was a repro and he used a minie ball with a heavy powder charge.

He had to have used far too much powder.

And look at how hes holding it..
With a dragoon caliver of what i presume is 58-62 cal, you should have that arm extended and be in a proper shooting stance.

Guys like this make it look far more dangerous then it is.

All that said, I hope he didnt get to badly smashed in the face.

Certainly looks like someone who didn't have the proper respect for the firearm he was using. Or the information that he should have when loading it.

Must have hurt a hell of a lot. It was really moving when it clocked him. Wasn't just a fumble!
