How often and how much

I'm in withdrawals right now while I wait for my Mark II to get back from Savage with its new barrel. I'm usually out at the range at least three times a week, and go through maybe 100-200 rounds a visit. Plus two or three monthly matches where I go through maybe 50-70 rounds, plus a monthly silhouette shoot where we do four matches. With 40 shots a match, that's another 160 rounds there. I live two minutes from the local range, and 1/2 an hour from the range where they hold the silhouette matches. I think the two-minute-proximity has something to do with how often I can get out there, hehe. There's another silhouette match about an hour and a half's drive from here that I've been thinking about getting to, as well. That's held the week after the closer one, and it's so much fun I think the drive might be worth it. Thank goodness rimfire is cheap!

Typically 50+ rounds every wed night for score, plus the odd plinking/practice session on Friday afternoons. Haven't had a multi-brick blasting session in a while. I'm about due!
It's still fun to try different loads and to see how small you can get your groups. I actually went out to the range 2 nights in a row, shot about 1000rounds total and I find that I get to know the rifle better and better in terms of trigger pull..etc.

We shoot in a league, so there's 700 points up for grabs each league night. That ups the "fun quotient" quite a bit. Basically, we're just a bowling league....with guns! Its mostly bragging rights and good camaraderie.

I shoot quite a bit - maybe 10,000 rounds a year - mainly ammo like Eley practice.
i agree that shootin paper gets kinda boring after a while .
i like to see things break or shatter or move around .
thats why at my club we cut the tops off the old bowling pins and sit them atop a table and knock em off .
i also get my son to collect all the un broken clays the shot gunners miss ,their fun to shatter ,and i also shoot metal silouette targets .
their also fun to shoot and make a rilly cool TING sound when you hit em .
also you can try popping balloons and ive also heard of people placing a few cartons of eggs in the action pit and laying wast to them now that sound like fun .
so there are alot more fun things to shoot than paper that are still safe just use some imagination and let the kid in you out to play for awhile (just be safe)

I try to get out 3 times a week in the mornings before work. I usually go through 300 to 400 rounds. I love reactive targets more than anything. Spinners, my kids halloween suckers, anything that disintigrates when hit.
I put the resettable spinners out a t 150 and shoot prone for at least 100 rounds and keep track of how many I miss compared to last outing.
If ever I had to get rid of all but one rifle, I would keep my 22 LR. Its just too much fun

I try to get out once a week and go through 3/4 - 1 brick. The fire road leading up to the pit I use has been built up by loggers, so now there's no more getting stuck! My preference is shooting outside, usually in the bush, as far away from "civilization" as possible.

Not often enough for my liking, on all accounts. Sure, I've been out the last two weekends in a row, and may even go for a third, but it's still not enough. And since Jan 1, I'm into my fourth brick of .22LR
I was shooting almost daily at some point. Range proximity is a big factor, for me its right half way from home to work and I work shifts. Naturally I visit the range either on the way to work or from work almost daily.
Shooting paper does get boring unless you are working on something - like improving your score for matches or tuning your gun or experimenting with loads - whatever. It is never the same by the way. Frequent hunting trips will make you want to shoot more and learn your trajectory. But then again, there are so many different rounds if we are talking 22lr that you are always behind in your knowledge. Shortly - bring the purpose into your shooting and you will have endless fun and sense of achievement.
