Firstly, my new 10/22 is my new favorite gun. I have a bunch of guns, but damnnnnnn this thing is a riot!!

and who needs 1/4 50yd groups when you can put 25 rounds down range in 10 seconds?!?! LOL!!

I know cleaning the bore isn't a major issue with .22LR. But how often do you guys find you need to clean the action? I have about 2000 rounds through mine since I bought it, and I haven't cleaned it yet, and it's still smooth as silk, so I don't anticipate needing to clean it any time soon...

Thoughts?

Maybe it's just habit that was drilled into as a kid, I clean every one of my rifles, hand guns, & ar's before I put them away. It literally takes a few minutes to tear down a 10/22 and clean it. I agree it's not needed to strip & clean as much as I do but it was beaten into me to treat my firearms this way, for they provide food on the table and could save my life one day. Most people go by use'em hard & put it away wet :)

I clean mine with it starts malfunctioning. Since I switched to a dry lube, a spray on graphite, I've had no need to clean. The dry lube isn't picking up the powder crud like the oil or g96 does.

I only clean them every time I have them apart to work on them. Which I guess would be about every 1000 or so rounds. They get a boresnaking every 500 or so rounds as well. As far as I'm concerned, don't clean them until they start jamming or accuracy is degradng. I find if you don't oil them, they don't need to be cleaned as often.

I clean my 10-22 and all my firearms after every use. Plus I give them all a good cleaning a couple of times a year. Most of my guns are blue and I like to wipe down the outside with G96 and a soft rag. When you clean them, it gives an opportunity to inspect them for loose pins, screws and the like. The love of the sport goes far beyond just pulling the trigger. I get just as much enjoyment from reloading to cleaning to pulling the trigger.
