How old?

I just aquired 2 rifles that have been in the family for years. The first one is a Winchester Model 1892 (44-40) and the second a Savage Model 1895 (303 Sav). If I use this site to get the year of manufacture, it says the winchester was manufactured in 1914 and the Savage in 1902-1903. How close is this.

That site gave you the manufacture dates... that's all there is to it. Not sure what you're looking for here...?

I want want to know if it is close the the real date. I have a savage model 99 and when I enter the serial number the date comes up as been manufatured in 1951 or later ( I know it was later, 1970s -1980s. Had to remove the letter at the first to get it to work)

I've used that site to date several firearms. Works well for me.

Savage 99's made in 1951 had no letter in front of the number. Later manufacture rifles did have the letter. Removing the letter does not give you the correct information or any relationship to the correct year.

Not that I'm aware of, newer guns can usually be dated by relativity, from catalogs / what models they preceded / followed, feature changes, etc.
