Im wondering how rare colt M16A1 handguards are? the triangle ones.
i got a set hoping they would fit on my airsoft gun, but they will need a little modifying to make them fit.
im just wondering if i should go for it, or if they are hard enough to find that i should just fork out the cash for airsoft ones.
thanks,
Joe

IIRC they are the same as the AR15 SP1. I don't think I'd call them rare. I bought a set on this forum a year or two ago.. sitting about 4' away from me right now too.
I'd say "bubba away" - but since it's Airsoft.. I don't think you can really "bubba" it. :)

Cheap, unfortunately. They aren't really thin on the ground...

And trust me, you never want to get caught saying this again  :p :

thanks for the answers though.
i just wanted to make sure i wasnt going to mess up something that i would regret in a few months or so.

Hey, makes sense, I suppose you've gotta couple months to go until you're 18th then? At least you're showing clear interest, things will be a lot more fun outta the airsoft realm :)

The triangular guards of the early AR-15 and M16/M16A1 are out there, but the problem is finding a pair of them at acceptable prices. With the triangular HG's you have a right and a left situation. The tabs that form the cooling slots on the top of the HG pair are prone to breakage, but will not affect the actual use of the rifle. Also, you may have a situation develop where one HG is perfect, and the other is all beat-up.

The AR-15A2/M16A2 HG's are round and don't care which way they are installed.

heh, at knob creek at least two dealers had 4 foot square bins selling complete sets of A1 plastic for 15$. It was all used and some of it was a bit beat (probably still had rice paddy mud on some of it) but you could pick and choose to your hearts content.....;)

Be sure to get a restricted, the more restricted owners the larger the PITA Lieberals will have trying to confiscate them!

Cheap and easy to find. I've picked up a few pair by putting a WTB in the EE. They all cost me between $10-20.
