I was trying some holster positions. In one set up the pistol is aimed at my Boys.

Is the striker fully cocked when the slide is racked?

Or does pulling the trigger add more power to the striker?

The striker is fully cocked.
they are known for being a very safe pistol and I have never heard of them firing without the trigger safety being depressed fully.

Incorrect. The Glock is one of the only ones that actually finishes the striker movement upon pulling the trigger however this add nothing to the inherent safety features of the pistol. If you are asking this question you really need to rethink your approach to the platform.

Min 3:26 shows the striker mechanism exactly.

Pistol is very safe like most striker fired pistols. Only thing that can pull the trigger is you or something activated by you, so .... holsters positions? Like in any striker fired pistols, make sure you are NOT wearing clothing that has tags, pulls (common in wind breakers this time of the year) they tend to get into the holster and action the trigger as you holster. This is a VERY RARE occurrence that like everything can only be prevented by you, not the pistol on itself.

Glock will only fire when the trigger is pulled (they are also very drop fire resistant). Previous poster is spot on that it is NOT fully cocked, which is one reason for the somewhat ####ty trigger they have.

Take in mind that it WILL fire when the trigger is inadvertently pulled, for example when its being holstered with the finger on the trigger. The only real safety is still the brain

Thank you. I could see that in the video. Makes me feel better. A half-cocked Glock is aimed at my jewels.

AIWB carry always gets the mind going on the " it's pointing at the boys" thing lol, but I realize also that thousands of people carry that way every day safely. I think it's good to practice all types of carry, but it took me a while before I would carry that way with one in the chamber lol, I would draw and rack a round for the first few months. I think it helps mentally that I'm now in my mid 50's and the " boys" don't get as much use as they once did :)

How safe is it? Very safe, will not go bang unless a) you pull the trigger or b)you are RCMP and can blame the gun for shooting yourself in the leg.

No. The striker is only partially cocked and the trigger pull draws it back to full extension before release. There is also a firing pin block, a wall that sits in front of the striker that is only pushed out of the way when the trigger is pulled.

It's practically impossible for a Glock to go off on it's own from an impact or a fall. But if the trigger is pulled, it WILL go off. Make sure your trigger finger is well away from the trigger guard when drawing or holstering, and that clothing is clear of the holster.

Glock is if fully drop safety and will only go off if you pull the trigger. Now the issue I have with Glock is you must be careful when holstering with a IWB holster, not to snag the trigger on anything when re holstering. On a DA/SA gun you can put your thumb against the decocked hammer to prevent the gun from firing if something pushed on the trigger during holstering.

On top of that there has been quite a few cases of "glock leg" caused by people holstering with most commonly a pocket zipper pull string getting caught on the trigger resulting in a discharge.

I'm a little confused by this statement. I have heard of a couple of Police Officer's in Canada shooting themselves with a Glock but that was just Gatineau Police and Winnipeg Police. RCMP don't even have Glocks...
