How Shall I ??!?!!

Finish this stock, particularly the checkered bits to something a bit darker for some contrast? I've refinished some military rifle stocks that had been under Bubba's ax, that turned out well but just a little thrown with the checkering and a favourite hunting 'ought six up on the table .....

Any and all wood working suggestions are appreciated!!

Why change a thing?..... I have the same rifle in .22lr, and while the wood is less than spectacular, I don't see a need to change it....

X2 all refinishing will do is bubba it.

Looks like it had finish on it right now that is just about right. I wouldn't try to strip it and refinish.

Right ......... Might as well carve a bouncy bouncy deer on the butt stock while you're at it.
