how similar is the trajectory of the .308 to the 54R ?

my reason for asking is i am looking at a dragunov but in .308 instead of 54R , but i want to get one of the russain scopes with BDC for the 54R , just wondering if it will be effective for the .308 round or if it will be waaaayy off

I would say pretty darn close, may get better bullet numbers from the russian bullet/cartridge dia, and they both hit the mark on accuracy. Trajectory of a 168 in 3o8 and 180 if avail in the other, they would be close at the outer distances.

Now you are rubbing it in again that you can own and hunt with these in NZ.

Personally if in NZ I'd go with a silenced .308 bolt rifle.

54R has a bit more punch then .308. I load my .308 with ~42gr powder and 54R with about 46 of the same powder. Most would say that the 54R is between .308 and 30-06.
