How solid does a Magpul MOE forend feel?

I'm fairly new to AR's and I bought a cheap Norc last year and caught the bug. So I sold it and recently bought a Stag model 1. I added an Eotech EXPS2, Vortex flip out magnifier, and a BUIS. Then I added a Magpul single/two point QD slind mounted from the end plate. Then I added a Magpul CTS stock because the factory M4 style stock had too much play for my liking. Now every thing feels solid on my gun except the factory USGI style forend, which has loose play in it.

How solid are the Magpul forends? I'm not looking to spend $300 on a free float rail, if that was the case I would of just bought a Daniel Defence rifle to start with. Thanks for the input.

Mine is rock solid, it's really tight and has no play whatsoever. It can be difficult to put on because of how tight a for it is around the barrel nut.

There were a couple quad rail handguards on the EE not too long ago for about $160(??) that will replace your current factory one.

Changes the complete feel of the front end from "ok" to "great". Nice and solid. Installation took a bit of filing - no big deal.

They are as solid as the round "fatty" guards they'll replace - the lock up points are the same - with the delta ring assembly/barrel nut and the end cap by the front sight block.

Plus you have the option to mount the accessory rails on the bottom and along the side.

If you can find a DD EZ CAR rail they are inexpensive and very sturdy. It fits very tight and looks great to boot.
DD aren't making them anymore but you can still find them around. I found mine on Brownells.

Actually the 7.0 is on sale right now for 139.99 there. Not sure if you consider that to be too expensive or not.

Very nice for a simple set of handguards. As everyone has stated, they are pretty rock solid. I installed an IWC Micro Flush QD sling mount on a set and it works very well with a two point sling. No need for an additional rail section to mount the qd socket onto.

hsld.

I just went back to these from a ff railed handguard.... Slimmer and lighter, should have kept it this way lol

To clarify the factory hand guard seams to have play up and down between the upper and lower but feels solid back and forth between the lock up points, if that makes sense.

If I was using a magnified scope I would probably go for a free floated rail if some sort but I assumed that there would be no noticeable difference in accuracy using a free floated rail with the limited accuracy of an Eotech optic.

My last rookie question is what length of hand guard to I need for my Stag Model 1 16" barrel, a mid length or a carbine? Thanks.

I don't think Stag makes a mid length at all.
.so carbine.

My Moe handguard also required some filing to fit in the barrel nut. I did not remove too much material so it's a tight fit and they are close to impossible to remove by hand but a piece of cake with a handguard removal tool. I liks Magpul products and I'm LFT getting the Moe SL handguard.

Another vote for rock solid. Put it on a Norc AR and it instantly made the rifle feel more substantial in hand. Nice texture too. Plus it can take more shooting than a metal quad rail before it gets too hot to hold.

If you get the MOE handguard, you can have my ODG MVG vertical grip for free if you like, just pay shipping. I bought the wrong part - it only works with the MOE.

I sure like mine. I also just put on an ATI octagonal for end on a different rifle; like that a lot more than I expected, too
