How the heck do I get this rear sight out?

I've read all the guides I can get my hands on, and still can't seem to figure this thing out. Would anyone here mind helping me out? I want to remove the rear sight on my SKS to replace it with a peep sight.

7. REMOVAL OF REAR SIGHT LEAF.

1. if you have a pin in your leaf, remove it first, you can see it from the side where it pivots.

2. pic below: using electrician tape , tape over the leaf a few times to protect the finish.

3.pic above right: then using a 2" clamp tighten gently , do not over tighten, watch for the movement from the top.

4. below pic: after it moved down 2mm , insert a straight edge screw driver.

5. above pic right: tilt the screw driver forward, if the leaf doesn't move then tight a wee bit more.

6. below pic: when re-inserting the leaf , make sure the part that slides clears the rear hump (see pen) of the sight base. NOTE, this is important or you could be hammering all day and it wont move. tape it again.

7. above pic right: tighten clamp, using a mallet gently tap in the leaf.

"...replace it with a peep sight..." Where are you planning on putting it? Any peep sight will have to be very high to come close to the front sight too.
 
Thanks guys I finally figured it out. Seems my sight had a pin through it as well that had to be punched out first, that's why I was having troubles. Ive replaced it with a Williams SKS peep sight, it fits in right where the leaf sight did.

 
Having removed the rear sight leaf, I noticed a leaf spring underneath that supplied the tension. Can this spring be removed? Am replacing the rear sight but it looks like the spring is in the way.

yes, wiggle it toward the front .
