I have 2 X G43 pieces for sale. The problem is I dunno what is the value of these items.

1- G43 buttplate : paint or blue is worn but no rust, there is red led paint inside the cup and the trap/spring works flawlessly...

2- G43 gas piston : Looks almost unused, no signs of wear...

So the questions are :

- Do you think these are original parts ???
- How much worth these 2 pieces ???

The Buttplate appears to be a Reproduction as there are two things that just don't appear correct on it.

1. There is no dimple at the top near the hinge.
2. The vertical indentation is stamped too far up on the skinny part and should be further down, almost inside the "oval shape" part of the door.

Very well coud be a Chinese or Shoei repro, that is "artificially aged' and painted with red rust primer.

The repros are thinner metal, don't have the dimple, and generally don't fit very well on an original stock without modifification to the wood.

On page 165 of Hitlers Garands (A G43 Book), your pics are different than what is shown for the Buttplate.

Any markings or numbers on the piston? Is there a set screw in the piston face?

I believe CGN Milsurp dealer, "Weimajack", is looking for a G43 buttplate. I think you can expect to get $150 for the buttplate if it is real (tough to tell exactly without holding it).

The piston looks like a Possible Repro though, so maybe $75?

Hope this helps.

Cheers!

The securing pin on the buttplate does not look quite right on the buttplate. The gas piston looks like a very clean example or a modern reproduction.

Fake buttplates will go for $80-120 on Ebay and original for more.
I am not up to piston prices and usually someone wants the whole piston system.

For Price, It really depends on if it fits or doesn't fit the stock.

If it fits, that's what you want.

If it doesn't fit, it can be a lot of work and bubbaing a good stock by sanding it - which isn't a great option. Like a size 10 shoe and a size 13 foot.
