Hello all,

It's been a little while since I got my RPAL, but I think it's time for me to get my first restricted. (I probably should have just applied for an ATT when I first got my RPAL but oh well.) In any I'm a little bit confused about the order of things. The threads I've read seem to have somewhat conflicting info depending on province; I live in BC. Do I need to first purchase a restricted and have the store start the transfer before I can get an LTATT or can I apply and receive one before my first purchase? In addition what is the best way to apply that takes the least amount of time? Phone call? Fax? Show up at the office in Surrey? Thanks!

If you are not a member of a gun club...now is the time to join.

Once you have your membership number, send in your ATT application via Fax.

Don't be surprised if it takes 5-6 weeks to get your ATT.

If you choose to purchase your gun during this time, you may find that your STATT is processed in conjunction with your ATT.

I don't think anyone has been able to short circuit the system currently in place in BC, so pull up a chair, and prepare for the waiting game.

Good luck, and whatever you choose to do, please post the results.

There is a way to "short circuit" the system. It is done by walking into the CFO's office in Surrey and asking for your STATT/LTATT. That is if you live close enough to the office.

Doesn't see to be any set time or reasons. Waited 90 plus days for licence/FAC - it sat at CFO in BC for almost two months. Bought revolver Sept 29th, had STATT by Oct 3rd. Faxed in LTATT application October 1st and LTATT was issued October 5th....... bad luck and good luck.

I am interested in this topic as well...

To be clear can you apply and/or receive a ltatt without owning or initiating the purchase of a restricted firearm?

YES!

In and Out in 10 minutes to get my LTATT

Oooh this is rather interesting indeed. I was under the assumption that we had to do LATT first, then STATT. I have also heard a rumor of "things are slow now because of layoffs due to long gun registry being thrown out, etc" but I think thats bologne.

I faxed off my LTATT Oct 24th, and I'm still waiting to buy my first AR-15! If I had known I could simply walk into the Surrey office I would've done that!

I wonder if the STATT goes to a diff department or if its all lumped together? harrison12 did his AFTER mine, in a different order and hes already enjoying his revolver!

Going to the Surrey office can definitely pay off: http://www.canadiangunnutz.com/forum/showthread.php?820948-BC-CFO-experience-(applying-for-LTATT-and-STATT-transfer)

You're dealing with the civil service bro ! When the lineups at Tim's are short, expect slow service. When the lineups at Tim's are long, expect slower service. Then there are all those rims to roll up and compare. These people are busy,, cut em some slack. :)

Im STILL waiting!!! Im printing it off tomorrow and going in person.

I tried calling them and they confirmed walking in is no problem. He also said there is no way to check on the status of a faxed in application. It simply "goes into the pile".
