How to break in a new rifle?

go to range with ammo of choice.
zero scope with ammo of choice.
Shoot the ammo of choice.
Finish shooting.
Go home, clean rifle.

There are people who will argue both sides, pro and no break in.
For a mass produced rifle like the 700, imo, it dont matter.
 
Mass produced factory rifles... some barrels may never break in...

But there are break in procedures that work well on custom hand lapped barrels where the only part of the barrel that requires 'breaking in' is the freshly cut throat.
