I have a Beretta 96d, which is double action only (DAO). I would like to be able to shoot it in single action at least, but preferably SA/DA. The DAO trigger is just too long of a pull for my shooting style.

I would like to have the hammer with spur. I am okay with not having a decocker.

Which parts would I need, and where can I get them in Canada?

Thank you!

I've seen this done to a 96D or Centurion (can't remember which) a long time ago but it was not a DA/SA pistol it was still DAO with a substantially lighter trigger pull. I will try and find the contact info for the gentleman who did this, he is a skilled gunsmith in Ontario and an excellent person to deal with.

I recently looked at a few 96Ds that were going for cheap on the EE but decided against them because of their trigger pull and because it was going to cost a substantial amount of money to outfit the pistol with the trigger I wanted.

So... you haven't seen it done then... :yingyang:

You've seen the trigger lightened :p

Sorry, I'm in Newfoundland right now and it's late. I didn't completely comprehend your post first time around, I thought you just wanted something much lighter than what you've got right now i.e. single action pull weight.

Beretta 96D

Sell in EE, then buy a Glock......:p

NAA.

I'm sure you could install the correct trigger group as the frame is the same on both guns but what about a safety? I can't remember for sure but I believe the slide on the D models are slick sided and the cut outs for the factory saftey/decocker is not present. If you have to get a knew slide to make this work you would probably be better off buying a new gun.

Yeah I was going to use it without a safety, like my Tokarev TT33 (never had a safety designed for it). I never use my safeties actually... more of a nuissance than a safety device.

I'm just gonna sell it and buy an AR15.... its in the EE now.

You could have just bought a sear, sear pin and sear spring and a spurred hammer. This place sells everything you need:

I would love to be able do the same thing. My wife doesn't like shooting it because it is to difficult for her. How much is this going to cost including shipping? Do me a favor and post the results, if they are good I will follow suit.

PS: Try re-posting this question in the gunsmith forum maybe you will get your answer.

installing the sear, sear spring, new hammer (as yours likely doesn't have the proper cuts, one of mine does, the other doesn't) and sear pin will give you a DA/SA trigger, but it will also create a very very unsafe firearm. If you want a DA/SA gun, sell the 96D and get a regular 96 or 92FS.
