How to disasemable a Tapco mag

Was at the range over the weekend and dropped my mag in the sand. Tried to take it down to clean out the sand but cud not get the heavy plastic cap off the mag base. Did not wished to force things and break something, is there a trick to removing the cap?

Drill a small hole between ''tapco'' and ''USA'' and then take a small allen key and insert it to push on the ''lock'' of the plate, then slide the block.

^^what he said. I drilled mine right on the u in usa and it lines up real nice. Make sure you only drill through the first layer of plastic.

yup, the drill hole in the middle of the U is perfectfully placed. only a very small bit is required 1/8 or even less. just enough to poke something in and push the spring back and slide off the plate. once cleaned it goes right back together (of course) easily. thanks for the tip.

Ya drill it at the bottom of the U as it centers on the piece you have to push. If you go in between the words you will miss the spot.

And remember if anyone asks its a "cleaning hole" !
